2019 Community Events in Review
Finesse Spa Salon and staff have been busy this year participating in a variety of events that help support and benefit our Ames community.
Earlier this year, we were a part of Reggie’s Sleep Out. Held at the Cyclone Sports Complex, this event creates awareness about homelessness here in Ames and surrounding areas. We love to support their mission, “Sleep out under the stars so kids can reach them!”
Throughout the year many of our guests have graciously donated 127 ponytails! Each was donated to Wigs For Kids, an organization that provides wigs for children as they fight cancer or other diseases which can cause hair loss. The wigs are a huge boost to a child’s self-image and self-esteem. Our industry strives to make everyone feel beautiful in their own skin!
This summer the staff at Finesse Spa Salon collected money to purchase and fill school backpacks. Six Ames kids in need were provided with a backpack loaded with all the school supplies they need for the year.
This Fall we did our annual Ronald McDonald pop tab collection. Staff and guests saved their tabs and the Salon delivered them to the Ronald McDonald house in Des Moines. These pop tabs are recycled and the money is given to help Ronald McDonald House defray the cost of meals and amenities provided to families staying at the house during their child’s hospital stay.
Finesse Spa Salon’s ongoing partnership with Wings of Refuge helps to fund services for young women who are victims of sex trafficking or those dealing with personal addictions. We take pride in helping these women feel their best as they start a new chapter in their lives.
To end the year of events, the Salon will be hosting our annual Finesse Fights Frostbite event. Set to kick off in November and December, we will again be collecting new and gently used winter wear for both children and adults. Items collected can include coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots. All items received will be donated to Bethesda Lutheran Church.
We would like to thank our guests and staff who participated in these events. Your continued support helps serve so many people in our wonderful community!
